Meet the Founder Behind the Mission
President & Director, California Construction Trades Foundation
When your livelihood depends on your trade, one mistake can cost everything.
In 2006, Yesenia Rivera watched her family's contracting business face a citation from the California State License Board. They had the skill. They had the work ethic. They had the determination to succeed.
What they didn't have was a roadmap.
That experience became a turning point that would shape the next two decades of her life and career.
Instead of accepting that skilled tradespeople would continue struggling with licensing, compliance, and business ownership, Yesenia committed herself to helping contractors build businesses that last.
Over the last 20+ years, she has helped hundreds of contractors navigate licensing requirements, business formation, compliance challenges, and growth opportunities throughout Central and Southern California.
Through her work, she discovered a common problem that would define her life's mission.
Many talented tradespeople know how to build projects.
Very few have been taught how to build successful businesses.
That realization led to the creation of the California Construction Trades Foundation (CCTF).
Today, CCTF provides free bilingual education, licensing support, business development resources, and government contracting pathways designed to help aspiring contractors, women in construction, Latino entrepreneurs, and underserved communities build stronger futures through business ownership.
To ensure that no contractor loses an opportunity because they lacked access to the knowledge, guidance, or support needed to succeed.
"We're not just helping people get licensed. We're helping them build businesses, create jobs, strengthen families, and leave a legacy."
— Yesenia Rivera
